A Framework is a Booking structure set in a grid using Object Classes inside a Static Binder. Frameworks are used in situations where a rigid shift pattern is in place and serves the purpose of alerting the Advanced User what kind of Object is required, when it is required, what time and day it is required and when the grid is not complete, i.e. if Objects are missing from the Booking. Typically Frameworks are used in Broadcast and Television companies for live shows, for example News, that have a fixed time and resources per day.

Setup a Framework

To setup a Framework add the Project in the Projects tree.

Select the date/s for the Show in the Longform. To select consecutive dates just drag from the first to the last day. If the show is not aired everyday it is possible to select the specific days by cmd (mac) / ctrl (pc) and selecting each day. The marked days will be yellow. Create a new Binder, to display the menu right mouse click or click on the gear icon. Select Binder > New and Set Binder Static Time Frame From Time Range = Yes. The New Binder window opens. Give it a name and a color and if needed add a Note.

A default Binder list can be created in Toolbox > Settings tab > Marker and Binder Defaults. See the Toolbox Manual in our Knowledgebase for more information.

The Binder will created the marked dates. Now click on the Binder icon and select: New Framework and select the Object Class that you need to plan. In the example below: Editor and Camera Man.

Select how many Objects you need per Class in the Type Quantity window.

The Framework is created. Per day a red box indicates the Object Class that is to be booked and the duration of time.

Fill a Framework

There a two way to allocate Users and Objects into a Framework Booking:

  • Automatic Filling of a Framework: Click on one of the days on the red box > Auto Find Objects. This way
farmerswife finds available Objects from the selected Object Classes.
  • Manual Filling of a Framework: Expand the Framework in the Project Tree so the Object Class names can
be seen. Left click on the grey box on one day and select from the dropdown list a Person or Object.

It is possible to add the Object to the Objects Tree, to show the Object in the Toolbox and to show Class Members in the Toolbox through the same drop down.

Once a Framework is set up, additional Object Classes can be added directly to the same grid by clicking on the Framework icon > New Framework From Class.

An Object Class can be deleted from the Framework by clicking and dragging it from the left hand side in to the trash can.

When an Object has been allocated in the Framework it will appear as a normal Booking in the Objects timeline.

Setup times and duration in Framework Bookings

The default Booking time for the Framework Booking is setup in Toolbox > Settings > Booking Defaults > Time In / Out.

Before creating a new Framework the In and Out Time can be changed or after the Framework is done.

Change the time per Framework Booking on all involved

In the Project Tree select the Object Classes so they are highlighted in blue > right mouse click > Binder Frameworks > Time In / Out > Choose Start and Stop Time. This way all days of that Booking get the new In and Out Time.

Change the time of one Object Class and on certain day(s) in a Framework Booking

In the View Port highlight the day that should have a different time for one or more Object Classes > Click on the Object Class in the Project Tree so it gets framed in blue > right mouse click > Binder Frameworks > Time In / Out (Override) > Set From Time Range > Choose Start and Stop Time.

Now both Object Classes in the example below have a different time for one day in the Framework Booking.

Framework Breaks

We can also setup framework breaks by highlighting one object class and right mouse clicking on it > Binder Framework > Framework Breaks.

We can add a custom break or remove an existing one:
