Media Library - how to track what's on the drive?

There are different ways to setup Media Library and use it together or without Dispatch.

In the article you'll find 3 most common scenarios.


1. Log each disk as separate media. Link and unlink to your projects when needed. It can be a bit risky, because whenever you link/unlink Media to the project, you need to remember to change its name to DRIVE NAME. 

You can only the history in the Media window, but you can not search with it. 

You can see related media in the project > EYE MENU.



2. Log each disk as separate media, but DO NOT LINK to the project. 

Use entries to keep track of what is the disc used for at the moment. 

You can search entries and add custom fields that are linked to the project (if labels are EXACTLY the same).



3. Log each disk as separate media, but DO NOT LINK to the project. Add project name by adding project name on check in / check out. You can see dispatch history of the selected media to see which project it was assigned to, but you can not see project related media in the Project > Eye Menu.
